Caskets & Chrome was born from the family’s own experiences with loss. When Ben’s dad passed, the only way to truly honour him was with his beloved 1942 Chevy truck. It wasn’t a hearse at the time, but they made it happen because it was exactly how he would have wanted to take his final ride. That moment brought comfort in the hardest time and showed them the power of a farewell that reflects a life.
Not long after, they lost a close friend. His farewell ended with a generic hearse that didn’t reflect who he was and it became clear that WA families needed something different.
As a family, Ben, Kristy and their son Gauge have each felt loss deeply, including the heartbreak of losing three parents and grandparents in just one year. Gauge, an old soul, understands this too. Helping families say goodbye in a way that truly reflects their loved one not only brings comfort but also fills their cups.
